After 12 years as a standalone brand within the eir Group, Meteor is officially rebranding to eir. From September, Meteor customers will enjoy all of the possibilities that come with being part of Ireland’s largest telecommunications company.
Thanks to the strength of the eir network, customers will continue to experience powerful mobile coverage in every town, city and county across Ireland with 96% 4G population coverage. Recent product innovations have bolstered the company’s mobile offering, including the hugely successful eir Sport app which is available free to mobile customers, as well as WiFi Calling, which is only available on the eir network in Ireland. In addition, eir has also recently launched a 30-day network satisfaction guarantee for new customers.
Richard Moat, CEO eir is confident that customers will take advantage of the rebrand: “This decision reflects the confidence we have in the eir brand. The transition will be seamless, and Meteor customers will continue using their mobiles exactly as before – with the added benefit of a world of possibilities. By focusing on a single mobile brand and reducing the duplication of supporting two brands, we can offer better value and increased innovation.
“Meteor customers may not have realised that they are part of a much bigger network, and they should be reassured that they can now take full advantage of all of the possibilities that come from being an eir customer.”
There will be no change to contracts or mobile plans – everything is exactly the same, even Meteor’s dedicated customer care helpline numbers. Customers will receive either an eDM or text message informing them of the change; a full FAQ is available on meteor.ie and eir.ie.
