eir to expand operations in Waterford creating 40 new jobs for the area

Tuesday, 1st March 2022: eir, Ireland’s largest telecommunications provider, has today announced plans to expand its customer care operations in it’s Waterford City location. The expansion will create 40 new roles with additional positions to be added in the months ahead.

In 2019 eir moved its customer care department back in-house, after many years of outsourcing, creating hundreds of jobs in its Sligo, Limerick and Cork sites. The move to in-house operations proved beneficial for eir’s customer care transformation, which has driven the company to expand its footprint further.

eir has had a presence in Keane’s Road, Waterford for 40 years, since the early 80s it has been a telecommunications exchange and a centre for the SouthEast region. They are in the process of upgrading the location to accommodate the expansion.

Sinead O’Gorman, eir’s Managing Director of Customer Operations commented “Today’s announcement forms part of our overall plan for eir’s customer care transformation journey. We have a long history in Waterford and we’re really looking forward to building on that. We believe in promoting from within and many members of our management teams have worked their way up through the business from entry-level positions so we hope prospective candidates view this as an opportunity to build a successful career with us. We are looking for energetic, customer focused, technology enthusiasts to join our growing team across, not only in Waterford but in many more locations across Ireland.”
