Modem Settings

Where is the password located?

The password is located on a label on the rear of the modem (or the bottom of the modem for older devices). The Wireless Password and the Admin password are the same.

How can I change my modem settings?

Select your device and you will find step by step guides for how to access the web configurator and make changes such as WiFi Details and Parental Controls.

Please note that why we will do our best to support you with changes to WiFi and Parental Control settings, any other more advanced configuration is made at your own risk.

Can I use my own modem / router?

Modem:

You can use a third party modem to connect to our services, however, we do not support these devices so we will be unable to help with the configuration of them. The basic settings you should need to get up and running are:

Username: eircom
Password: broadband1
Encapsulation: PPPoE
Multiplexing: LLC Based
Authentication: Chap
WAN IP Type: Dynamic
VPI: 8
VCI: 35

Router:

You can also use a third party router behind the eir modem (either as an access point or in bridge mode), however, we do not support configuring these devices, so you will need to take care of that.

Resetting my modem

On occasion, you may wish to reset your modem to it's factory default settings. This is useful when you have forgotten or lost your wireless password and/or your admin password. You can reset your eir modem by following the below steps:

1. Locate the Reset hole on your modem (usually located on the rear or side of the device)
2. While the modem is powered on, use a pin (or similar item) to hold down the reset button inside the reset hole for 10 - 20 seconds until you see the lights all flash at once, then release the button
3. Allow two minutes for the device to restart and re-estalbish it's connection to the eir network

Please note that resetting your eir modem to factory defaults will erase any and all customized settings you have made (network names, passwords, port forwardings etc.)
