How to Set / Edit Favourite Channels
On the Live TV screen, you can add and remove your favourite channels. On the Channels and TV Guide screens, switching to the Favourites tab will show you just your favourite channels
- On the Live TV screen, tap the menu button (three vertical dots) to the right of the channel you wish to edit
- If the channel is not in your favourites, you will see an option to add it
- If the channel is already in your favourites, there will be a removal option
- Alternatively, you can also remove favourites from the Favourites tab on the Live TV screen using the Menu button
Casting
Casting is available for eir TV customers on ALL your subscribed channels. Here's what you need to get it up and running:
eir TV is supported on phones and tablets running iOS 8.1 and above and Android 4.4 and above
Bandwidth Requirements:
The casting quality on eir TV depends on your available internet connection
- A bandwidth of 3Mbps gives a resolution in Standard Definition
- A bandwidth of 5Mbps gives a resolution in High Definition
- A bandwidth of 8Mbps gives a resolution in Full High Definition
Available Channels
The Channels available for casting for eir TV customers are:
- ALL channels you're subcribed to
Available channels for eir broadband or Post Pay customers are:
- eir sport 1
- eir sport 2
- FreeSports
- TG4
Initial Setup
Before you setup your device for casting, make sure you have the following:
- A working and stable internet connection
- Working internet connectivity at the TV location
- Ideally, 8M of bandwidth available
- The latest version of iOS or Android installed and updated on your device
- The latest version of the eir TV app installed and updated
- Your Chromecast device already set up. For more information on how to set up your Chromecast device, see here
Here's what will happen the frst time you cast on eir TV:
- Tap the Cast icon

Small tutorial
2. A small tutorial will appear. Tap Next and Got it to read the tutorial, or Skip to ignore it

Where to stream
3. You will see a list of available Chromecast devices. Select one to begin casting

Controls
4. The controls are at the top of the app. You can pause, rewind, fast forward and much more. You can even swipe left or right to change channels

Change your Streaming Quality
You can change the streaming quality between high and low
1. In the Settings screen, use the Default WiFi bitrate option to set the streaming quality on a WiFi connection
2. To change the streaming quality on Mobile Data, use the Default mobile bitrate option
3. By default, WiFi streaming is set to High and Mobile streaming is set to Low
Picture in Picture (PiP) - Android Only
This feature allows you to continue watching a programme in the eirTV app while using other apps on your device.
- When you're watching Live TV in the eir TV app, you can exit the app and the video will continue playing in a small window in the bottom right-hand corner
- This screen can be moved around by dragging the window
- To return to full screen, just double-tap the app
- This feature can be enabled or disabled in the Settings menu using the toggle options
