New underground ducting
eir’s standard delivery method for rural fibre to the home services is to use an overhead line from the nearest pole to the home.
Where a customer is seeking to receive service via underground ducting instead, and no existing infrastructure is present at the premises, specific guidelines for the customer/contractor can be found in our New Ducting Specification guide which can be downloaded here. It is necessary for new ducting to comply with the specifications outlined in order to enable delivery of new fibre to the home service.
Typically a blockage will be identified by a technician when they visit to survey or install the service. A blockage encountered in an existing duct will require a civil engineering contractor or builder who can remove or remedy the blockage. This will need to be arranged by the homeowner themselves.
