I'm moving premises but I've been told I can't bring my fixed number with me, why?
A fixed line number is assigned from a selection in a local exchange area, so if you move premises from that area you may not be able to retain the same fixed line number.
What can I do about it?
eir can arrange to keep your existing number active in it's current local exchange on what is known as a 'Virtual line' for an indefinite period of time. It can either divert to a new fixed number or to a mobile number or alternatively you can set up a voice mailbox on the 'virtual line' with a message advising your callers to ring a new or alternative number. Note that if you select the voicemail option, do not allow your callers to leave a message as it will fill in and block your voice mailbox.
What does it cost?
There is a once off set-up charge of €36.30 inc vat and a recurring monthly charge of €10.25 inc vat. In addition if you choose to divert or forward the call to another number then you will pay for the 2nd leg of the call at standard rates to that forwarding number.
How do I set it up?
The Virtual line cannot be set up manually so you will need to contact us on 1901 to arrange it.
If you choose the voice mailbox option, then once the virtual line with mailbox is set-up you will need to record your message advising people of the new number you can be contacted at.
