eir secures number one position in the Irish fibre broadband market with significant market share growth

eir, Ireland’s largest telecommunications provider, has today moved ahead of its competitors to claim the largest fibre broadband market share in Ireland, according to the ComReg quarterly key data report for Q3 2023.

The report from ComReg, the Commission for Communications Regulation, outlines that in Q3 2023, eir achieved an impressive 32.7% of the total fibre-to-the-home broadband subscriber lines, solidifying its position as industry leader. eir also remains the frontrunner in the overall fixed broadband market accounting for 27.2% of the retail subscriber lines.

The report findings follow significant investment by eir, with its ongoing network expansion recently bringing the total number of homes and businesses passed with FTTH to more than one million. A total of 2 million premises are passed by eir’s combined FTTH and Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) networks, or 90% of premises in Ireland.

eir Managing Director for Consumer and Small Business, Susan Brady, said:
